MORRIS – The Morris Babe Ruth baseball league is planning on opening registration to Babe Ruth on Wednesday, June 3rd.
The registration window will remain open for two weeks, parents can register their child at www.morrisbaseball.net.
The Morris Baseball Association will be holding a meeting on Wednesday to further discuss options and a plan for area leagues moving forward, running in compliance with the governor’s health and safety protocols.
We are currently in Phase 2 of the guidance, and coaches can only hold practices. The practice groups are limited to one coach and up to nine players. Coaches can have up to three groups per field, but they all need to be the same team. There is no mixing of players, although teams can have two coaches operating nine players at different stations on the field.
Games can start in phase 3 of the guidance. There is no date assigned as to when phase 3 would start. The hope is that games would start in the middle of June, but it could be later.
The Morris Baseball Association is planning on starting games as soon as phase 3 is open, and would like to run games through July and into August at the latest.
The Morris Baseball Association is currently putting together a plan together to keep players, coaches, umpires and fans safe while games are played. That is the top goal at this point.
MBA is following guidance from the governor’s office and also other baseball associations across the state as to procedures in place to keep everyone safe. It is a fluid situation and KMRS/KKOK will continue to keep you up to date on the latest happenings regarding youth leagues in the area.
