We’re one month into road construction in Starbuck and crews are moving along on Stage 1 of the project. The underground work on Highway 29 south is nearing completion, and the road is being prepped for new pavement. As long as things go according to plan, paving on the south end of Highway 29 could start later next week.
Preparations and installation for new curb, sidewalks and lighting has also started, as well as the new multi-use path along Highway 29. Because the sidewalks have been removed in some areas, alternative pedestrian routes are set up to help safely cross the work zone. As they continue pouring concrete, expect to encounter additional restrictions while concrete cures.
Highway 29 south remains closed from the main intersection (Highway 28, 29, 114) to First Street. Regular in-town traffic should follow the detour route on Wollan Street and West First Street. Unless you have a destination in Starbuck, truck traffic is to use the truck detour route. Businesses expecting deliveries should keep vendors informed about how best to access your location.
