Hancock Public School will hold a parking lot graduation ceremony on the Jumbotron 7 p.m. tonight streamed live at hancock.k12.mn.us on the school’s homepage and broadcast on KKOK 95.7 FM. The school’s top academic students, in order, are Valerie Messner, Parker Schmidgall and Greta Schaefer. Hancock School Superintendent Paul Carlson told KMRS that the Class of 2020 had to deal with a lot of emotions and challenges during the pandemic, and he appreciated their leadership.
“We’re very proud of the Class of 2020,” said Carlson. “Our graduates have discovered many things that they’re good at, and we hope that they’re able to contribute to society and make the world a better place. And I wanted to congratulate the Class of 2020. We’re very proud of them.”
Carlson noted that the school year started out great with Hancock’s designation as a National Blue Ribbon school, and the great season by the football team.
Immediately following the Hancock ceremony, a community parade acknowledging and honoring the graduates and their accomplishments will begin at approximately 8 p.m. The graduates will line up along Hancock Avenue and the parade will run east to west on Hancock Avenue starting at the intersection of 2nd Street and Hancock Avenue.
