Two men escaped injury when they were thrown from their boat on Lake Ida in Douglas County. 18-year-old Ethan Sigler and 21-year-old Conner Sigler, both of Cottage Grove, were traveling in a 14 foot aluminum boat when a large wave caused the boat to suddenly change course and threw the pair overboard. A nearby boater saw the incident and pulled them out of the water.
The boat continued running in tight circles until disabled by sheriff’s deputies. The 15 horsepower motor was running because the tether cord was disabled. The boat had life vests but they were not worn. Strong winds and high waves were a factor in the incident.
