A large number of community members and first responder outfits were engaged in a day long search Sunday for Traverse County resident Terry McCoy. The 68-year-old was last seen at his Wheaton home 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15. In a Sunday evening Facebook post, the Traverse County Sheriff’s Office said a lot of man hours have been invested in the investigation so far.
The search has included drones from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office flying around the property, as well as their underwater search and rescue team that searched the pond behind McCoy’s home, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Crime Scene Team unit, a helicopter search by the Minnesota State Patrol, tracking and cadaver dogs from Northstar Search and Rescue, creek bottom searches by United Legacy, technological assistance from Christian Aid Ministries Search and Rescue, and grid searches by the Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office. A number of local businesses and volunteers also offered food, transportation, water and sunscreen for searchers.
McCoy was not found and the investigation continues. Anyone with information regarding McCoy should contact the Sheriff’s office.
