The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) announced Small Cities Development Program (SCDP) grants totaling nearly $19 million for infrastructure and rehabilitation projects in 32 Minnesota cities.
SCDP grants are part of the Community Development Block Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The SCDP grants pay for rehabilitating housing and commercial buildings and updating public infrastructure in small cities and counties.
The grant awards announced this week represent both rounds of SCDP grants to be announced in 2020. First round grant awardees included $600,000 for public facility improvements in Murdock. Second round awardees included: $745,000 for owner occupied housing and commercial in Appleton, $943,000 for owner occupied housing and commerciall in Battle Lake, and $488,750 for owner occupied housing in Underwood.
