The Starbuck City Council declined to award a bid for a new bike path next to Lake Minnewaska.
The city engineer estimated the cost of the path would be about $36,000 dollars. City Clerk Calvin Benson says bids came in considerably higher…
“Our lowest bid was $64,965, which is why we’re re-bidding it,” said Benson. “We may have to slightly change up the timeframe that we’re hoping to get it done during. But we don’t expect that the actual plans will have to change much.”
Property owners next to the bike path will be assessed for the improvement when completed.
Benson adds he has been pleased with the progress of the road construction on Highways 29, 114, and 28 saying the project is ahead of schedule and trucks are using the designated detours around town.
