At their regular meeting last Tuesday, the Morris City Council approved a proposal from Mike Cihak for Public Access Channel management. Cihak is director of media technology at the University of Minnesota Morris. Morris City Manager Blaine Hill explained on the KMRS Community Connection what Cihak would be doing for the city.
“So we’re going to have him not only set up the system so it works, but also manage it for us,” said Hill. “And then he’ll actually take the system to a different level. We’re talking a little bit about possibly live streaming some events and things like that. That’s what he’s interested in. Graduations, athletic events, other events that might be happening.”
Funds for the project would come from a small tax that is on the media providers in Morris. Hill expected the system to be set up fairly quickly.
