Tokens for Tomatoes is up and running for its third year in a row in the counties of: Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Swift, and Yellow Medicine. TFT is a farmer’s market token system organized through Countryside Public Health, SHIP-Statewide Health Improvement Partnership.
Community members, businesses, worksites, elevators, and area farmers have donated to the token system to bring better access to healthy food in those five counties. These tokens are distributed at local libraries and police/sheriff departments to community members. Anyone has the opportunity to purchase tokens for distribution at events, businesses, or as an incentive or donate to the program. These tokens are worth $2 a piece, are accessible for all ages, and can be redeemed at any of 10 local farmers markets for fresh produce. Visit countrysidepublichealth.org or their Facebook Page for a list of the market times and dates.
The tokens are accepted at: Appleton, Benson, Kerkhoven, Montevideo, Dawson, Madison, Big Stone Lake, Graceville, Granite Falls, and Canby markets.
