Maggie’s sense of humor was like no other.  Her quick wit and ability to crack a great joke always lightened the mood.  Mags was an avid reader – The Library of Congress has nothing on her. She was always searching for new recipes – that she never seemed to cook!  She loved to play computer games, do puzzles, and was an accomplished cross-stitcher, crocheter, and knitter.  Most important to her were treasured times with family and friends.

She was born September 12, 1950 in Winnebago, MN, to Warren and Mary (Davidson) Cross.  Mags graduated from Huntley High School in 1969. She then earned a degree in nursing from the St. Barnabas School of Nursing.  She worked as an RN for 12 years, and for the last 5 of those years, she was the Director of Nursing at Stevens County Hospital.  She later graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  She proceeded to earn her Masters of Social Science Degree (MSSW) at the University of Texas, Austin.  She returned to Minnesota and pioneered with Lutheran Social Services as an in-home family therapist. She successfully ended her 30 year social work career as a contract supervisor of in-home family therapists in 5 MN counties.

She is survived by her two daughters: Michelle (Jamie) Hess, Erin Ersted; three grandchildren, Jaida and Maxwell Hess, Henry Jensen; three brothers: Jim (Linda) Cross, Jon (Donna) Cross, Jerry Cross; former husband: Paul Ersted Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Warren and Mary(Davidson)Cross and her brother: Roger (Heidi) Cross.

Marjorie has donated her body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program for research purposes.
