With the mainline paving done on Highway 29 south for Stage 1 of construction, crews begin paving side street entrances in Starbuck.

Highway 29 south in Starbuck is looking like a road again with fresh pavement. Paving was recently completed, but the road remains closed, as crews still have several things to finish up. They’ll be completing street light pole foundations, installing pavers along the boulevards, planting grass, and striping the highway.

Stage 1 will be completed today, and Highway 29 south will reopen from First Street to Sixth Street. The detour route will switch to Sixth Street and Wollan Street. Crews will pack up for the holiday weekend and be back on Monday, July 6 to start stage two of construction.

For the second stage, the main intersection of Highway 28, 29 and 114 will be closed, up to Eighth Street on Highway 114. North and southbound traffic on Highway 114 and Highway 29 will be detoured to Sixth Street, Abercrombie Street and East Eighth Street. East and westbound traffic on Highway 28 will be rerouted to Wollan Street, Sixth Street and Abercrombie Street.

Stage two also includes work on Highway 28, including three blocks west and half a block east. When that work begins, east and westbound traffic will use John Street instead of Wollan Street as part of the detour route.
