In a statewide campaign effort, Justice Paul Thissen is conducting a series of virtual town halls across Minnesota, “stopping” next in Alexandria, Morris, and surrounding areas on July 12th. Justice Thissen, who is running to retain his seat on the Minnesota Supreme Court, was first nominated to fill a vacant seat in 2018 by then-Governor Mark Dayton. He told the KMRS Community Connection that in Minnesota, judges run for election every six years and he enjoys the chance to make connections with the public.
“I think it’s a real opportunity for the people of Minnesota and judges to engage in a real conversation about what they want our courts to look like, what values are important to them, in a sense,” said Thissen. “And also learn what the courts do and how they operate. I see it as a real exciting opportunity.”
The Alexandria/Morris area virtual town hall is scheduled to take place at 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12th. An event on Minnesotans for Justice Paul Thissen’s Facebook page and his campaign website will provide details on how to join the event on Zoom. For those who cannot participate, the footage of the town hall will be made public following the completion of the event.
