Willmar 16, Morris 4
WILLMAR – Two big innings helped Willmar cruise past Morris 16-4 in Central Minnesota Independent League 18U baseball opener on Thursday in Willmar.

A six-run second gave Willmar a 8-0 lead after two innings, Morris scratched together a few runs before the game was busted open with Willmar’s seven-run fourth.

Dylan Kroes tallied three RBI’s at the plate, one of five players to have multiple RBI’s for Willmar. Sam Huseby picked up the win after tossing three innings of one-run ball.

Austin Berlinger took the loss for Morris, allowing 14 runs (nine earned) on eight hits over 3.1 innings. Cade Fehr recorded two outs on the hill.

Derek Giese went 2-3 with two RBI’s and run scored, Zach Bruns and Riley Reimers each knocked in a run, Fehr had two hits.

Morris is 0-1 and will be in Kimball for a 6:30 ballgame on Friday night.
