One man was killed and another injured in a truck-car collision Friday afternoon west of Alberta on Highway 28.
A 1997 Freightliner was completing agricultural work while traveling East on a closed portion of Highway 28 near 580th Avenue. 69-year-old Abdi Mohamud Jama was driving a Nissan Murano East on Highway 28 when it entered the construction zone, fishtailed, and struck the Freightliner causing fatal injuries to the driver of the Nissan Murano. The Nissan passenger, 21-year-old Kamil Mohamud Jama was flown to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with life-threatening injuries.
The Freightliner driver 28-year-old Lewis Taylor Varnum and his passenger 32-year-old Damian Vasquez were not injured.
