Minnewaska 8, Morris 3
MORRIS – Minnewaska scored early and often to beat Morris 8-3 in 18U baseball from Chizek Field on Tuesday night.
Darion Alexander’s two-run single highlighted a three-run first inning, Minnewaska added two more in the second inning for a 5-0 lead that Morris just couldn’t overcome.
Mason Blair went 3-3 with two doubles, two RBI’s and two runs at the top of Minnewaska’s order, Alexander was 2-3 with three RBI’s.
Luke Barkeim to tossed two scoreless innings for the win Aaron VerSteeg pitched three inning of one-hit ball in relief and Minnewaska is 4-0 on the season.
Tristan Raths tossed six innings in relief of Zach Bruns who took the loss. Raths gave up five runs (three earned) on 10 hits with four strikeouts.
Bruns was 2-4 with an RBI and run scored, Cade Fehr was 2-3, Derek Giese drove in another run for Morris who is 2-4.
