As they prepare to put their popular Horticulture Night program online this year, workers at the West Central Research and Outreach Center will hold off on special 50th anniversary plans due to the coronavirus. The WCROC’s Esther Jordan told the KMRS Community Connection that special things will come – but later than expected.

“It’s still going to be our 50th year of Hort Nite, whether it happens in 2020 or 2021,” said Jordan. “So, we’ve put those ideas on the back burner of how we’re going to celebrate our 50 years and we will roll all that out in 2021, hopefully.”

Not wanting to have the usual 2,000 people swarming the Display Gardens in Morris during the pandemic, a series of pre-recorded video segments by horticulture experts and friends of the Gardens will be available starting 5 p.m. Thursday, July 30 on the Outreach Center’s website (or Google WCROC).
