Local area businesses got a chance to talk about their successes and struggles last Monday with the Republican-endorsed candidate for Minnesota’s 7th District in Congress, Michelle Fischbach. She joined local Republican legislators Senator Torrey Westrom of Elbow Lake and Representative Jeff Backer of Browns Valley for a full day of tours around the Morris area.
The tour included stops at Denco II Ethanol Plant, Riverview Dairy, Superior Industries, Bonanza Beans and Fresha. Fischbach finished the day with a large meet and greet at Gillespie farms in Johnson. There she was joined by Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jason Lewis along with other Republican state legislators.
At the meet and greet, Backer said that because Fischbach has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, “when she is elected, she will have more access to the President than Collin Peterson.” For her part, Fischbach told the assembled that “we need to fight to keep rural Minnesota strong.”
Her expected race with Peterson, who chairs the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, will be one of the most closely observed in Congress.
