Orange 9, Blue 4
MORRIS – Johnny Kleindl pitched a complete game for Orange in their 9-4 defeat of Blue to claim the Babe Ruth championship on Thursday from Chizek Field.
Kaleb Breuer’s RBI single in the first helped Orange to a 2-0 lead, Jacob Drewicke and Justin Asmus each had RBI hits in the second for Blue to tie the game.
Breuer then broke a 2-2 tie when he doubled in the fourth, stole third and scored on a wild pitch and Orange never looked back, scoring seven runs over their final three at-bats.
Kleindl allowed four runs on 11 hits with eight strikeouts to earn the win. Blake Bruns and Ashdon Hacker each scored two runs, Landon Gibson picked up an RBI for Orange.
Jackson Hallman started for Blue and gave up two runs on two hits with five strikeouts, Jake Volker struck out seven in relief. Tyler Berlinger tripled and scored twice, Hallman added an RBI at the plate.
Orange was coached by Jason Breuer, while Blue was coached by Mike Koehler and Mark Berlinger.
Prior to the game there was a dedication ceremony for longtime Tigers baseball coach Lyle Rambow. The upper JV field has been renamed the ‘Rambow Field’ in honor of his 33 years as a coach, and his commitment to Morris area baseball.
