Pastor Hector Franco of the Morris Evangelical Free Church.

The Grief Share grief support group kicks off with the first of its 13 weekly sessions 4 p.m. today at the Morris Evangelical Free Church, 901 Scotts Avenue in Morris. Pastor Hector Franco of the Free Church told the KMRS Community Connection that topics covered in the series include the Journey of Grief, the Guilt and Anger of Grief, Complications of Grief, and the Cycles of Grief.

“People feel stuck in that cycle of grief, so we talk about how to go through that cycle,” said Franco. “And then the question is, What do I live for now? You know, at the end of the day, when that loved one is gone now, how do I find purpose? How do I live for now? How do I find the strength for each day to get up and go on about my day?”

Participants can come to one or all of the two-hour non-denominational sessions. Sessions are free, but there is a $15 fee for the workbook and scholarships are available for that. The Monday before Thanksgiving will feature a potluck dinner with a free separate workbook on “Surviving the Holidays.” For information, contact the Evangelical Free Church at 320-589-2808.
