Twice in the last month, Grant County deputies have responded to calls involving firearms. Grant County Chief Deputy Jon Combs told the Grant County Board of Commissioners that crime in the county has taken a violent turn. The Grant County Herald reported Combs told the commissioners that “deputies came face to face with people who were armed…While the deputies did a professional job, we are not quiet little Grant County anymore, and it’s frightening.”

Combs did not know if the cause had to do with the economy or COVID-19, but he does not see the situation getting any better anytime soon.
