A public hearing on the adoption of significant amendments to Stevens County’s Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, as well as as CUP application for the relocation of Stevens Township Hall will highlight the next meeting of the Stevens County Planning Commission 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 31 in the Board Room of the Stevens County Courthouse.
Stevens Township would like the Hall moved or demolished. Brian and Monica Kleindl would like to move it and restore the building to preserve the history of the township and possibly use as a museum and meeting place for gatherings. The request is being processed as a conditional use permit. The structure would have to meet state building codes if it opens for public use.
The public hearing involves amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, including the addition of three new zoning districts, clarifying when permits are required for structures and improvements, amending housing density requirements, adding regulations regarding fences, recreational vehicles, animal feedlots, and solar energy systems, among many other things.
