Dan Luthi, age 64 of Morris, Minnesota, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN, due to complications of Covid-19.

Funeral services for Daniel Joe Luthi will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Morris.  A drive up visitation will take place in the parking lot beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Attendees will be asked to stay in their vehicles during the visitation and service. Pastor Michael Hanson will be officiating. Burial will take place at West Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock, MN.

While maintaining social distancing guidelines, Pedersen Funeral Home are now able to accommodate gatherings of up to 250 people. The use of face masks by attendees is required, and we will continue taking the necessary steps to keep our facility clean. For those who prefer or require continued precautions, webcasting and/or livestreaming is available in most situations.

Daniel Joe Luthi, son of Harold Noah Luthi and Bernice Elizabeth (Bruland) Luthi was born on February 27, 1956, in Morris, MN.  He was baptized at West Zion Lutheran Church in rural Hancock, MN, on March 19, 1978, by Gordon Syverson.  He grew up and spent his lifetime in rural Morris, MN, graduating from Morris High School in 1975.  He attended Willmar Technical College Ag Production for two years and graduated in 1977.  On September 3, 1977, Dan was united in marriage to Christine Alice (Hacker) Luthi by Gordon Syverson. Dan and Chris lived together on the family farm for 42 years, raising five children: Ryan, Caleb, Aaron, Amanda, and Braden.

Dan was a hardworking farmer. He farmed with his dad and brother. They raised beef cattle and hogs. They also grew corn, wheat, alfalfa, and soybeans as their crops. Farming was his true passion along with his family.  If you were not talking farming with Dan, he would talk about his children and grandchildren as they were his pride and joy.

Dan enjoyed carpentry and passed his talents onto his sons.  He loved teaching his children and grandchildren new things.  He also appreciated anything outside and having family pets around.  He liked talking with various people, had a witty sense of humor and a greeting smile. He made several trips to Beaver Island in Michigan with his wife, children and grandchildren until his health deteriorated.

He is survived by his wife: Chris Luthi of Morris, MN; five children: Ryan (Heather) Luthi of Evansville, MN, Caleb (Wendy) Luthi of Morris, MN, Aaron (Amanda) Luthi of Donnelly, MN, Amanda (Carter) Feuchtenberger of Morris, MN, and Braden (Kielyr) Luthi of Chaska, MN; eleven grandchildren: Alivia Luthi, Lily Luthi, Anna Luthi all of Evansville, MN, Jasmine Luthi, Gavin Luthi both of Morris, MN, Noah Luthi, Abram Luthi both of Donnelly, MN, Seth Feuchtenberger, Eli Feuchtenberger, Isaac Feuchtenberger all of Morris, MN, and Daulten Luthi of Chaska, MN; one brother: Daryl Luthi of Morris, MN; two sisters: Carol (Dale) Richter of Maplewood, MN, and Rita (Larry) Bye of Cyrus, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Bernice Luthi; and parents-in-law: Donald and Janet Hacker.


Funeral services are with Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.
