At Tuesday’s meeting of the Stevens County Board of Commissioners, there was a public hearing on a petition for outlets into County Ditch 1. County Coordinator explained on the KMRS Community Connection that the petition came from three different landowners who want to outlet into the system, essentially taking water and adding it to the ditch system.
“These are acres that quite a few years ago had the potential to be included into a project and weren’t at the time,” Young explained. “So when they look at the ability to outlet, they look at charging that person an outlet fee as well as the legal fees associated with the petition. And all three of those outlets were approved for County Ditch 1.”
There were no objections to the petition. A public notice will go out for the next step.
