The Dessert Derby is still on – but this year with no desserts. The fundraiser for the Courage Cottage facility in Morris is still selling raffle tickets until Saturday, when winners for the cash prizes will be drawn on the Courage Cottage Facebook page and the Stevens Community Medical Center’s home page. SCMC’s Angie Cole-Olson told KMRS that the Courage Cottage relies on fundraisers like the Dessert Derby to meet operating expenses that are not covered by resident fees.
“We just have to remain committed to keeping the resident fees affordable,” said Cole-Olson. “And that is where the fundraising come in to subsidize some of these other areas where the funds aren’t there for them, so we can keep it a comfortable expense for the residents. These little tickets, 20 bucks here and there, really, really helps the residents keep a comfortable stay.”
Tickets are $20 or 6 for $100 in what they call the Baker’s Choice and can be requested at 320-585-5134.
