Today is Hero Day in Grant County. The public may attend two special programs that will honor those whose lives have been lost, or forever changed, as a result of the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. Show your appreciation to the heroes who provide safety and security to the people of Grant County, our state, and our country: military, law enforcement, fire and rescue, and emergency medical personnel.
Grant County will be officially proclaimed a “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon County” by the State of Minnesota today. This designation means that Grant County has met the criteria of the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon network, which is a comprehensive program that creates awareness for the purpose of connecting service members and their families with community support, training, services and resources.
The first observance will be from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 at the West Central Area football field, in Barrett. The second observance will be from 4:00 p.m. until 4:45 at the Veterans Memorial, Highway 78, outside Ashby. All family members of heroes, community leaders, and citizens of Grant County are invited to this special observance. Social distancing and masks are required.
