Republican-endorsed candidate for U.S. Senate Jason Lewis told the KMRS Community Connection that the untold story of the lockdown is the unintended consequence on the national debt. Lewis said the U.S. has a debt that has reached 100 percent of GDP, which we haven’t had since World War II.
“When GDP shrinks by a third, guess what happens to tax revenue? It drops like a brick,” said Lewis. “So again, you’ve got these unintended consequences of an overreach that are going to have long-lasting consequences. And that’s got to be issue #1. Our young people cannot afford to pay off this debt in 75% tax rates in the future. So, we’ve got to make certain we get a handle on spending going forward.”
Lewis did not provide any specifics of what he would cut, but the full interview with him can be found on our website at kmrskkok.com, under the News tab in the Community Connection section.
