MORRIS FALL BASEBALL LEAGUE

Morris 17, Hancock 1 (5 Inn)
MORRIS – Morris jumped on Hancock early and continued to pour it on in a 17-1 rout in Fall League baseball on Tuesday from Chizek Field.

Dylan Rose had a two-run double to highlight a four-run first inning for Morris. Sam Kleinwolterink knocked in a pair as part of a four-run third, and Morris capped the night with Durgin Decker and Zach Bruns each collecting two RBI’s in a nine-run fifth inning.

Tristan Raths had more than enough run support to earn the win, allowing a run on four hits, a walk and five strikeouts. Brady Backman struck out the side in the fifth.

Decker led the 14-hit night for Morris by going 3-4 with a double, two RBI’s and two runs. Bruns and Kleinwolterink each had two hits with two RBI’s, Gage Tomoson was 2-3 with an RBI. Josh Rohloff scored three runs as a courtesy runner for catcher Riley Reimers.

Reimers, Brett Hansen, and Tristan Raths also had RBI’s for Morris who is 4-1 in league play.

Preston Rohloff took the loss for Hancock, giving up eight runs (five earned) on seven hits, four walks and a strikeout. Rohloff was 2-2 with an RBI at the plate as Hancock fell to 2-3.

Minnewaska 3, Benson 2
MORRIS – Blake Andreas’ pinch-hit RBI squeeze-bunt in the top of the seventh inning to score Mitch Gruber broke a tie and gave Minnewaska a 3-2 victory over Benson from Chizek Field.

Both teams scored two unearned runs in the first and the game remained tied until the final frame.

Benson would load the bases in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to come up with the big hit, a common theme in the game for each squad. Benson stranded 12 baserunners, Minnewaska left nine on-base.

Gruber got the win in relief, giving up a hit with four walks and four strikeouts over three innings. Aaron VerSteeg started and allowed two unearned runs on two hits, five walks, and three strikeouts.

PJ Johnson had the lone RBI for Minnewaska who is 4-1 in league play.

Sam Lenarz took the loss for Benson, giving up a run on three hits, a walk and three strikeouts over three innings of relief. Isaac Minchow started and gave up two unearned runs over four innings with three walks and two strikeouts.

Minchow walked three times at the plate, Patrick Minchow and Lenarz each scored a run for Benson who fell to 2-3.
