This Friday, September 18th is POW/MIA Recognition Day. It honors the commitments and sacrifices made by our nation’s prisoners of war and those that are still missing in action. The Missing Man Table Ceremony is one way to honor these veterans and educate our youth and community. The ceremony consists of setting a table with 6 empty seats. The empty places represent Americans still missing from each of the five services — Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard – and civilians. This Honors Ceremony symbolizes that they are with us, here in spirit. The ceremony provides a visual demonstration of the significance of POW/MIA Recognition Day.
