A lab confirmed case of COVID-19 was found Thursday in a member of the Hancock Public School. The person was in school for one hour on Wednesday and then sent home.
Superintendent Paul Carlson wrote in a letter to Hancock Schools staff and families that those who had close contact with the case have been identified and there has been communication with them and their families individually. In what is now standard school language, Carlson wrote that the risk of exposure for other individuals present in the building is no greater than the risk of contracting the virus in the general community.
He advised all families to monitor for symptoms of illness, and stay home if symptoms develop and consult with a physician to determine if medical evaluation is needed. He said the school district is following protocols established in its planning of the past months.
