GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING

Minnewaska/Morris 101, Montevideo 76
MORRIS – Minnewaska/Morris Area Gators hosted Montevideo in a swimming & diving dual from the University of Minnesota-Morris on Thursday, earning a 101-76 victory.

Diver Jaida Hess broke her own Minnewaska school record with 201.75 points and took first in the 50 Free, with teammates Taryn Picht and Grace Mortenson finishing right behind in second and third.

Bailey Schoen took first in the 100 Backstroke, while Audrey Dorweiler capture two second place finishes in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Fly.

Melena Longtin qualified for sections with a second place finish in the 50 free behind Courtney Pauling of Montevideo. Longtin qualified for sections in this event.

Shannon Dougherty took second in 200 and 500 Free, setting a lifetime best in the 500.

In relays, the Gators grabbed three first place finishes for the 200 Medley (Schoen, Makenna Thoen, Dorweiler, and Julia Kuehne), 200 Free (Kuehne, Makenna Thoen, Hufford, Dougherty), and 500 Free (Hufford, Dorweiler, Schoen, Dougherty).

The Gators junior varsity won 113-67.

CROSS COUNTRY

Ortonville Meet
ORTONVILLE – Border West runner Joe Arens too second place at the Ortonville Meet on Monday, Sept. 14th. The Bucs Julia Schmidt finished third for the girls.

Arens crossed the finish line with a time of 18:06, Derek Lupkes took ninth overall with a time of 20:16.

Schmidt had a time of 23:02, Emily Franzese was eighth with a time of 26:22.
