MORRIS – Tigers freshman Hailey Werk’s second place finish helped lead Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls to a team victory at the Morris Cross Country Meet from Pomme de Terre Golf Club on Monday.
Werk finished with a time of 22:51, five seconds behind winner Isabel Wirth of Benson/KMS.
The Tigers filled out half of the girls top ten with Isabel Fynboh taking fourth, Kaylie Raths and Caryn Marty were sixth and seventh, Ana Backman finished ninth.
The Tigers had 28 points as a team and took first place, Benson/KMS had 41 points, Sauk Centre had 55.
Thomas Tiernan and Gavin Stallman took seventh and eighth place for the Tiger boys, who finished third as a team.
Sauk Centre’s Brandon Kampsen beat Landon Thompson of Benson/KMS by 14 seconds for first place, but the Braves took first as a team with 25 points.
The Mainstreeters were second with 44 points, the Tigers had 69.
