Melrose 113, Minnewaska/Morris 73
GLENWOOD – Records fell at the pool on Thursday night as Melrose beat Minnewaska/Morris 113-73 in swimming & diving from Minnewaska Area high school.

The Gators had two first place finishers with Audrey Dorweiler capturing the 200 IM, and Bailey Schoen for the 100 Backstroke to go with her second place finish in the 100 Free.

For the second time in two weeks Jaida Hess broke her own diving record with a 204.

On the Melrose side, two swimmers broke two pool records with one spanning 24 years.

Gracie Drossel- broke Litchfield’s Jessi Metkowski’s 1:11.23 100 Breaststroke record with a 1:09.97. The old record was set in 1996.

The second record happened in the following event the 400 Free Relay when Mackenzie Herzog was going for the 100 free record and if the swimmer is the first leg of the 400 free relay and a flat footed start you can go for a record. Herzog swam a 54.46.

Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd Invite
APPLETON – The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls had three of the top five finishers and took first as a team at the LQPV/DB Invite from the Appleton Golf Course on Thursday.

Hailey Werk too second place, seven seconds behind Kori Bristle of MACCRAY/RCW.

Following Werk were teammates Isabel Fynboh in third and Kaylie Raths in fourth. Ana Backman finished sixth for the Tigers who had 18 points, the Eagles had 37 points for second place and the Wolverines did not qualify.

Thomas Tiernan and Gavin Stallman again led the Tiger boys with ninth and tenth place finishes.

LQPV/DB had the top seven finishers led by Zeke Sather who won the event. The Eagles had 15 points for first place, the Tigers were second with 55, and the Wolverines placed third with 76.
