Virene Irwin-Nagl, age 91 of Morris, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at West Wind Village.

Visitation for Virene Iwrin-Nagl will be on Thursday, January 21, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Morris, MN.

Funeral services for Virene Iwrin-Nagl will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at First Lutheran Church in Morris, MN, with Reverend Matt Orendorff officiating.

Burial will be held at Summit Cemetery in Morris.

Virene Irwin Nagl was born on June 9, 1929, to Archie and Pearl (Blood) Peters in Traverse County, MN, and attended school in Chokio, MN. Virene married Curtis Irwin on October 25, 1947, made their home and raised their five sons on the Irwin family farm in Rensville Township.  Virene worked as a Nursing Assistant at the Stevens County Medical Center for over 30 years and retired in 1994.  She loved her patients and the people she worked with at the center.  After Curt’s passing in 1993, Virene married George Nagl in 2003. They remained on the farm for many more years until their move to Morris, MN. 

Virene was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Morris and was very involved with her Bible Study group.  She volunteered and had many friends in the community.  She always had a full calendar, even more so after she retired.  She loved crafting, gardening and loved her family and any chance to get together. Virene and Curt loved their trips to Montana to spend time with their sons and families. Brother and sister reunions and family reunions were always special to her. Virene also loved her winter home in Florida with George, her sisters and their husbands.

John Irwin of Morris, MN, Dan (Karen) Irwin of Martin City, MT, and Ivan
(Donna) Irwin of Hungry Horse, MT; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great- grandchildren; and nieces, nephews; sisters: Mary Lou Stephens of Grand Rapids, MN, Leila Haigh of Bovey, MN, Dianne Fischer of Bovey, MN, and Janet Hudson of Black River Falls, WI; and brother: David Peters of Goodland.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Curtis; son: Wesley; grandson: Danny Irwin; brothers: Merlin and Harley;  sisters: Hazel DeLong and Rosella Stanley; brothers-in-law: Sam Stephens, John DeLong, Larry Haigh, Richard Hudson, and Ron Fischer; and sisters-in-law: Betty, Ruth, and Pat.
